Yesterday we had a fun Family Home Evening.
In preparation for family home evening The Daughter and The 1st Son sat on the couch squeaking and squawking, poking and pinching each other. While I whipped out a book called The Little Brute Family by Russell Hoban.
It is about a little Brute family that grumbles and groans and howls and moans and never has anything nice to say to each other. Eventually Baby Brute finds a "little wandering lost good feeling," which he shares with his family. The family decides they want this good feeling to stay and they become good and kind to each other.
By the end of the story The Kids were hugging and laughing and being the sweetest and kindest of children, begging me to read the story again and again. The Husband and I were amazed at how quickly and completely they changed. This book is a keeper and will be read on a regular basis to encourage polite and loving behavior.
